wedding toasts mother of groom

Laughter will forever be the best medicine, better than any doctor prescribed pills or holistic remedy passed on by a health therapist. So it is with this thought that we at Video Babylon understands the importance of therapeutically adding the enjoyment of a Toronto wedding by providing some of the all-time anecdotes for that perfect wedding occasion. By adding a dose of laughter to your speech as a best man, maid of honour, father of the bride or mother of the groom and even the MC, doing it at the right time is the key, something that will have to come from seeing the audience and determining how you feel, however, there is never a wrong time to crack a tasteful joke during your wedding speech, for your Toronto wedding party, however, it has to be done very tastefully and in good standing of your guests, especially your newly formed family.

There is nothing worse than making a fool of yourself while standing in front of all your guests, family members and newly-inherited family members and start to insult those people that you are making a first impression towards. Keep your speech, toasts and poems funny, short and sweet and remember to have fun, this is a wedding, a Toronto wedding party and funny poems, funny speeches and funny poems are encouraged, not frowned upon, so go up there and have a blast for your Toronto wedding speech.

So in conclusion, not only can you win brownie points as a public speaker but also help in breaking the ice with your audience. The audience at a Toronto wedding can be very fickle, it can be very relaxed even while you make a toast, so go up there and make a killing, be prepared and you will be fine for your wedding speech at your Toronto wedding. Below are a few examples of one-liners that will enhance your wedding speech, poem or toast:

Socrates

By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you’ll be happy. If you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher.

Rita Rudner

I love being married. It’s so great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.

John Milton

Biochemically, love is just like eating large amounts of chocolate.

Henny Youngman

The secret of a happy marriage remains a secret.

Cathy Carlyle

Love is an electric blanket with somebody else in control of the switch.

Mickey Rooney

Always get married early in the morning. That way, if it doesn’t work out, you haven’t wasted a whole day.

Honore de Balzac

The majority of husbands remind me of an orangutan trying to play the violin.

Henny Youngman

I take my wife everywhere I go. She always finds her way back.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

A man’s wife has more power over him than the state has.

Henry Kissinger

Nobody will ever win the battle of the sexes. There’s too much fraternizing with the enemy.

Anonymous

There are 4 keys to a successful wedding, take your wife out dancing, take your wife out shopping, take your wife out to dinners and shows and make passionate love to your wife, and in the end make sure that none of the previous 4 women meet your wife.

wedding speeches jokes

Wedding speech etiquette is not just about being inspirational or humorous. There are also some guidelines that you want to follow when writing and delivering your wedding speech. Etiquette means you have rules to follow for socially acceptable behavior. For me, this simply means being considerate to others, especially your audience and the bride and groom.

The best thing to ensure wedding speech etiquette is to avoid drinking too much during the wedding reception. Drinking too much when you know that you are going to deliver a speech is a recipe for disaster. Here are a few things you need to avoid when delivering a wedding speech.

1. Avoid profanity or vulgar words as much as you can. Remember that a wedding is a General Patronage event. G-rated or General Patronage, if I can borrow from movie classification, means that everyone of every ages are going to attend a wedding. Inserting profanity into a wedding speech would surely have a lot of eye-rolling from parents who does not want their children to hear such language.

2. Do not use sexual innuendos or inappropriate jokes in your wedding speech. Again, the problem with this is that weddings are attended by people of varying ages. As long as you keep your speech clean, I see no problems with etiquette.

3. Double entendres or double meaning jokes should be kept to a minimum. In-line with the sexual innuendos, double meaning jokes are usually sexual in nature. You may be able to get away with one or two of this kind of joke, but do not overdo it.

4. Do not overuse inside jokes. Inside jokes are good if you tell one or two stories in your wedding speech, but do keep it to a minimum. Inside jokes are only funny for people on the inside. The reason for a wedding speech is to draw your audience in and not to alienate them.

5. Do not bring up stories about ex-relationships. Conversation about ex-relationships are only proper during private moments and not in a public setting, especially not in a wedding. The purpose for toasts and speeches in a wedding is to inspire the bride and groom, not to make them uncomfortable.

Keep these few pointers in mind and you will never go wrong. Just remember that good manners and right conduct are your only guide to make a good showing of yourself when it comes to toasts and speeches in a wedding. funny wedding toasts groom
i want to make a funny wedding toast!?

my sister is getting married next friday. she has two maids of honor….me and her best friend…he best friend is giving a long sappy toast and blah blah blah and i want to say somthing to make eveyone in the room laugh! keep in mind the groom and i fight like brother and sister (but in a funny way) and im only 14! please and thank you!

I know that you want to make it funny, but please don’t make it too funny.

Wedding toasts/speaches are supposed to be heartfelt and happy. It’s okay to throw in a joke or two here and there, but don’t make the whole thing a joke!

How about saying something like this: “To my wonderful sister on her wedding day. May her and (Insert groom’s name here) have a long, happy marriage. (Groom’s name) for the past couple of (years, months, weeks, however long you have known him) you have been like another/brother I never had(whichever one is the truth). We fight like brother and sister and I’m very happy to call you my brother, not just my brother-in-law. So here’s to (your sister’s name) and (the groom’s name).”

That has a few jokes in there that will make people laugh and it’s also heartfelt.

Good luck!

groom speech content

If you want to learn about best man speeches then you’ll want to read this article. Specifically we’ll discuss why you shouldn’t fear being best man, the basic structure of a traditional best man speech and how to generate some great ideas to use. After reading this article you should be perfectly equipped with all you need to give an unforgettable speech on the wedding day.

Many men feel under real pressure when they’re asked to be best man, despite how honoured they may initially feel. This is perfectly normal because few of us are used to public speaking and therefore unsure how to do it well.

However, you should remember that this anxiety and nervousness can be used positively as the boost of adrenaline you’ll get on the day will help you. Also, by preparing thoroughly you should be confident that you’ll say the right things. And finally remember that although you may feel pressure at being expected to be funny, the truth is that the wedding guests will laugh at whatever you say and will be behind you completely. The only thing you should be careful of is not to offend anyone even sin the slightest. If you are at all unsure about any content of your speech then leave it out – it’s just not worth it.

Traditionally the best man’s speech follows the Father of the Bride and the Groom and is the last speech at the wedding reception, although you’ll need to check with the bride and groom to ensure this is the case.

The Groom’s speech traditionally finishes with a toast to the bridesmaids and so you should start yours by thanking the groom on their behalf. Obviously you need to find out what traditional elements there will be and fit your speech around that, but if you adapt the traditional format you can’t go wrong.

Following the thanks you should introduce yourself and say a few words about how you know the groom. I like to say something funny here to help me relax and also to warm the guests up for the real humor.

Once I’ve introduced myself it’s time for the real meat of the speech – tell a funny anecdote about the groom, some funny stories or one-liners. You know the groom best, so you decide what to say, but I prefer one main anecdote and some funny comments about it. I can almost guarantee that you’ll get laughs, and when you do you should pause to let them enjoy the moment – enjoy the moment yourself too – and carry on when the laughter has subsided and they can hear you again.

Finally you should say something about the bride and then propose a toast. That’s it, you’ve just given a great best man speech.

When trying to think of ideas for a best man speech I like to write down as much about the groom as I can think. Everything that comes into my head goes down on paper and when I can’t think of anything else I leave it.

If I go back after a few days usually there will be some other ideas, so once again I start writing until everything is exhausted. Once you get to that stage you should remove anything that is in bad taste, crude, offensive or unsuitable for the bride, her family, or any wedding guest to hear.

That leaves you the basis of your speech. Pick the best ideas and expand them. If they’re not funny rewrite them until they are. Once you’ve got that out the way you’re ready to go.
