you know, to thank people, or thanking their parents, or whatever. I know other people are supposed to speak, but shouldn’t the bride/groom? thanks

we didn’t make a speech at our wedding, but we did walk around and thank everyone individually.

wedding speeches to sister

I wrote and delivered the perfect wedding speech as maid of honor for my sister’s wedding. Thanks to the information in the world wide web, I found tips and guides to help me write a great wedding speech. If not for the tips and tricks I applied to my speech, I never would have made a great wedding speech.

I was worried at first when I found out that I am going deliver a speech as a maid of honor in my sister’s wedding. I was not sure that I will be able to write or deliver a good speech during the wedding. I don’t want to embarrass or disappoint my sister, so I was stressing out over how I can make a good speech.

I looked for expert advise on how to write and deliver a speech, and I found some guides that helped me. I want to share some tips with you so you can be on your way to writing a great wedding speech or toast.

1. Find a single theme and stick with it. A theme is what we can call a topic of your speech. You can say anything you want, tell an anecdote or joke, but you have to have a single over-arching theme that will serve as the glue to make your speech precise, succinct, and coherent.

As long as you have one theme, you will be understood by the people or the audience that are listening to you.

2. Once you have a theme going, you need to have a point to your speech. Whether you want to be funny, inspirational, or dramatic it is all up to you. The important thing to remember is to make a point. Don’t just be funny just for the sake of being funny. A wedding speech is not stand up comedy. You need to impart something that will leave a good impression to your audience, especially the bride and groom.

3. When you want to deliver a good speech, you need to rehearse as much as possible. If possible, rehearse with someone else so that a second or third person can hear your delivery and honestly critique it. This can make you improve your speech as fast and as efficient as possible.

I applied all of the above and it guided me to writing the best wedding speech as a maid of honor. You too can follow simple tips, guides, and strategies to help you write the best wedding speech or toast. wedding toasts quotations

If you sit down to  write a  wedding speech, you feel that your roadblocked how to structure your speech. Ideas can fly around your head, but ask you from settling on paper. Or just grab some more inspiration for the wedding toast. Here are a few pointers on writing your wedding speech or toast:

Structure

Wedding speech and toast, not so different from writing essays. Each word has a beginning, middle and end, but it is less than a high school essay. At the beginning reads what you say goes. Some people like to start with a nice quote or anecdote. In the middle of your meat and potatoes, so you want most of toast brought here, and especially the end of it all. But remember that your toast and ends on a positive-up note. Give yourself plenty of time for the wedding, really the structure of speech, so do not just talk, and not deviate.

What write

Now that you know the structure, you can focus on your content. Great place to start a wedding toast is to introduce yourself and your role in a marriage or relationship with the couple. Remember that not everyone who you are. Then add something personal about a couple. You can share stories or just something nice to say a few well. Keep it personal, but not too personal.

Where to find inspiration

Still suffering from writer’s block? Try using a trigger to inspire you to a simple wedding speech. You can use quotations from old photographs and memories to activate some special characters. If you save old letters and postcards that can help you remember what fun stories to share. Talk with friends and family and get ideas, stories or even discussed with the bride and groom.

General advice
Even after you write your wedding toast, then again to make sure that it should be done. Be sure to write readable reference to the wedding. You never know when you freeze in front of guests, so they wrote the words to help you easily. Also clean speech. There, children or conservative people here, and tell dirty jokes or dirty stories should be saved for another time.

It also applies to clean your appearance. Check in a mirror before getting up to put toast. Keep your speech short and to the point, but let everyone know that they made the conclusion, “Now pick up the glass” or “for the bride and groom.”

wedding speeches love

1. It goes without saying that you should mention the bride and groom in the wedding speech. It means doing your homework and finding out something about their foibles or hobbies. So if the bride collects shoes for instance you might wonder how the groom is going to afford to keep her shod. If the groom is a keen sportsman you might say something about that it’s now time he took up Do-it-yourself instead.

2. It’s gracious to thank the hosts for their wonderful hospitality.

3. It’s appropriate to say something witty and wise about marriage itself and what it means. You might use an old saying or a piece from a poem or a piece from the Bible.

4. It’s nice to mention the parents of the wedding couple in some way. So if the groom’s father is an avid golfer, for instance, you might laughingly compliment him on actually taking the day off for his daughter’s wedding. If the bride’s mother is a wonderful cook then you might say how lucky the groom is to be marrying into a family who will feed him well.

5. If you are speaking as a bride or groom it would be nice to mention your parents and how much they have done for you during your growing years. You could say that you hope to build your marriage on their happy relationship.

6. The groom, of course, should mention how much he loves his new wife and how beautiful she is looking on this special day. The bride, if she is speaking, should mention her happiness at being married to such a wonderful man and how much she loves him.

7. The groom should toast the bridesmaids while the best man should respond to the toast saying how lucky he is to be surrounded by such lovely ladies!

8. It’s gracious to say something about the wedding service itself and how much it meant. If there are clergy present it is nice to thank them for the trouble they took to make it meaningful.

9. A wedding day is a day for being upbeat and positive and never mentioning anything that would upset the mood of the day. It’s definitely a day when you say all the right things about people so if a father who has been absent for years turns up you might mention that his son has inherited his lovely singing voice or good looks but never speak about his unfaithfulness.

10. A wedding speech should mention those who cannot be present due to circumstances or ill health. So if gran is too old to come it would be nice to speak kindly of her saying how much she is missed. Above all it should make all those who are there happy that they are sharing in the wonderful occasion.

bride and groom speech examples

May 23rd, 2009 admin No comments

It usually falls to the father of the bride to make the first speech of the wedding. Traditionally it was then up to the groom to respond by making a speech on behalf of himself and his new wife. It is not uncommon nowadays for the new wife to want to make her own speech.

If the groom makes his speech on behalf of both marriage partners he should conclude his speech by handing over to the best man. However the groom should instead introduce the bride’s speech if she intends to make one, and then the bride should finish by handing over to the best man.

Grooms speeches are vitally important to the success of the day, but they are the most difficult to get right. You need to thank everyone involved in the wedding; you daren’t miss anyone out or give anyone too much prominence above others. You need to make everyone feel equally special.

On the other hand you need to make it sound as if you are not just reading out a shopping list. You need to be sincere and humorous at the same time, and this is a delicate balancing act that can be very difficult to get just right.

Now you appreciate the scale of the challenge let’s briefly take a step back into reality. Speaking in front of a large and diverse audience is a daunting task, and demands a certain amount of planning and preparation. However in the background you also have a little thing like a wedding to organize!

There is so much other stuff to organize that writing the grooms speech tends to get left until the last minute. You know that it needs doing, but there are so many other more pressing things that end up taking priority. At some point a nagging voice in the back of your head tells you that you cannot put it off for much longer, and you begin to contemplate writing your speech.

There then follows rabid use of the search engines looking for examples of bride and groom speeches that are good enough to be hacked together into some sort of speech. However, the end result tends to be a mish mash of writing styles, along with some very formulaic, dated, and cliché ridden content.

Unfortunately your guests will have heard a version of this same speech many times before, and not long into your speech you will notice them shuffling in their seats and talking amongst themselves. This then forces you to rush the speech and miss out large chunks in an effort to finish quicker and spare yourself the embarrassment.

You don’t want this to happen to you. You have invested too much time and effort to spoil your wedding day, and thereby incurring the wrath of your new wife, by cutting corners on the most important speech of your life.

What you need is a good source of professionally written speeches and toasts that you can amend to suit your circumstances, thereby giving you a unique and quality speech that will be received with enthusiastic praise by your family and friends. Not forgetting the gratitude from an admiring bride.
