Father Wedding Toast Basics!
Unfortunately the father wedding speech isn’t a completely free piece of writing – it is there as a way to make sure you don’t leave anyone out. It took me a long time to realize, but basically it’s about keeping everyone happy to ensure your daughters’ wedding day goes perfectly!
Typically the father of the bride (and/or groom) has to foot the majority of the bill for the wedding, so it is only proper that he makes the first speech.
The father of the bride/groom usually addresses the guests formerly, welcoming them to the wedding, thanks the people by way of acknowledgment for the contributions thay have made towards the wedding.
The father of the bride or groom may also talk more casually about his feelings and relationship with his son or daughter and also welcome the bride or groom and in-laws in to his family.
Father of the Bride speech basics:
- Welcome the guests to the wedding.
- Thank them for coming to help you celebrate the wedding of your daughter.
- Tell them about your son or daughter.
- Tell them about your new son or daughter in-law.
- Toast the Bride and Groom.
Mentioning Your Daughter/ Or Groom:
Even though I had told the story a million times, I thought it best to start my father of the bride speech with a story about my beautiful daughter. You could share 1 or 2 precious memories with your daughter. This always goes down well, and is a great crowd-pleaser for all of those who have made such an effort to be there on her big day.
Next, I will try to add in anecdotes or praise of my family. After all, this is an important occasion and probably your best chance to show the special people in your life what they mean to you. Even if they didn’t directly help me with the wedding, they still played an important part in my life as a whole.
Remember, the wedding day is about the love of the bride and groom, but it’s also about having family and friends around you. Even though I was really nervous about my Father Wedding Speech, it didn’t take me long to realize that it isn’t too hard to please everybody if you’re careful. With a little planning and following some basics wedding tips, you can make your speech the best wedding speech ever!
